Product Description The Mettler Toledo Densito 30PX is a handheld refractometer for measuring liquids such as petroleum products, vegetable oils, cosmetics, detergents, beverages, sugar solutions, and organic and nonorganic liquids in a 5 to 35 degrees C temperature range using measurement units such as density in the 0.0000 to 2.0000 g/cm3 range and Brix scale in the 0.0 to 84.0% range. The refractometer has automatic temperature compensation (ATC) and a polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) plastic body. Additional measurement units include ethanol wt% or vol% in the 0.0 to 100.0 range, sulfuric acid (H2SO4) in the 0.0 to 100.0% range, light degrees Baume in the 10 to 100 range, heavy degrees Baume in the 0 to 72 range, degrees Plato in the 0.0 to 20.0% range, proof US in the 0.0 to 200.0 range, and proof IP in the 0.0 to 175.0 range. Handheld refractometers, also known as sugar meters, concentration meters, or Brix meters, are commonly used in the culinary, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, educational, geological, chemical, and ecological industries, and for water-testing applications. This refractometer is housed in a PBT plastic body, with a borosilicate glass measuring cell in a polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) measuring cell holder, for use with many types of samples and operates with an ambient temperature range of 5 to 35 degrees C. The Densito 30PX features ATC for immediate, accurate readings, using either internally-stored tables or one of ten custom temperature-compensation coefficients. A digital LCD displays the reading in 1 to 10 minutes. An adjustable-speed, built-in polypropylene (PP) sampling pump allows for controlled sampling, or a syringe (sold separately) can be used to measure samples with high viscosity, or those that de-gas easily. Display backlighting can be set to turn off automatically 5 seconds after the last key press. The unit can be calibrated with distilled water or a density standard, such as toluene from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The Densito 30PX stores up to 1,100 measurement results, along with sample identification, temperature, temperature coefficient, date and time, which can be transferred to a printer or computer using the integrated infrared interface. An infrared converter (sold separately), and a computer or printer with an IrDA (Infrared Data Association) interface, is required. The unit can be set to turn off automatically if not operated for 10 minutes. The unit comes with a protective polypropylene (PP) carrying case with foam cut-out inserts to cushion the instrument. It also comes with two AAA-type batteries, three 6ml density standards for calibration, five cleaning tissues, two low-density polyethylene (LDPE) pipettes, two screw-cap polyethylene (PE) vials, and software to transfer data to a computer, and instructions.
